Brian Bechtol, PA-C

Brian Bechtol, PA-C

Brian is licensed to practice by the state of North Carolina and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. He is a Navy veteran, holding his physician assistant degree from Alderson-Broaddus College. Bechtol is also a member of the Urgent Care Association of America and the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants. He is also certified to perform DOT physicals through the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

Amanda (Mandi) Williams, FNP-C

Amanda (Mandi) Williams, FNP-C

Mandi and her family recently moved back to North Carolina, and she works mainly in our Morganton office. She has over 18 years of experience working in healthcare, with the last 15 years as a Nurse Practitioner. She has an undergraduate degree in Exercise Kinesiology and enjoys helping people improve their health and treating acute illnesses. After completing her graduate degree at East Carolina University, she worked in Family Medicine for two years and Emergency Medicine for ten years before moving into the Urgent Care setting in 2020. She is very passionate about helping people improve their overall well-being, including their spiritual, mental, and physical health. She is an avid trail runner and enjoys spending time in nature. Mandi, her husband, and their children enjoy adventures as a family and exploring all that the mountains and towns of western North Carolina offer, along with travel around the United States and internationally.


Courtney Gouge, PA-C

Courtney Gouge, PA-C

Originally from West Virginia, Courtney joined the UMCV family in February 2019. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Wheeling Jesuit University and her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Mountain State University. She has previously worked in primary care and is DOT certified. Courtney says she chose to become a PA because of her drive to help people and the fact that the medical field is always changing. She enjoys talking to new people and says her favorite part of her job is seeing something new and interesting every day. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her two dogs.

Kam Mistri, PA-C

Kam Mistri, PA-C

A West Virginia native, Kam has lived in North Carolina since 2007. He received his degree from Alderson Broaddus College and has been a Physician Assistant for 23 years. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, National Commission of Certified Physician Assistants, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, North Carolina Medical Board, DEA and DOT associations. He is certified to perform DOT physicals through the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners and works in our Hickory and Taylorsville offices. Like many others that chose the profession, Kam says he chose to be a PA because he enjoys working with the public and helping others. He says that being able to help others feel better and seeing positive outcomes is his favorite part about the job. When Kam is not helping patients, he enjoys spending time with his kids and any sport, whether he is watching or playing it.

Kristin Teague, DHSc, MPAS, PA-C, BS, ATC-L

Kristin Teague, DHSc, MPAS, PA-C, BS, ATC-L

Kristin was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina. She received her Doctorate in Health Science from A. T. Still University in Mesa, AZ, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Wingate University in North Carolina. She has been a Physician Assistant for 11 years and an Athletic Trainer for 24 years. Kristin has experience in emergency medicine, sports medicine, digestive disease, and occupational health. She is certified to perform DOT physicals through the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. Kristin is a preceptor for PA/NP students and is a mentor for POCN. POCN Mentor Program is the largest PA/NP network nationwide that cultivates professional development, provides peer support, and helps with professional growth. Kristin says she chose to become a PA because she is passionate about medicine and wants to make a difference in a person’s quality of life. Outside work, she enjoys playing golf, skydiving, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.


Michaela McCall, NP

Michaela was born and raised in Taylorsville, North Carolina, and works primarily in our Hickory office. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master of Science – Family Nurse Practitioner from Gardner-Webb University. Michaela has been in healthcare for 14 years and has worked in critical care, Surgery, and the Emergency Department. She is very passionate about healthcare and says it has always been her dream to be a nurse. After working as a nurse for a few years, her love for the career grew, and she decided to further her education to become a Nurse Practitioner. Her favorite part of her job is caring for and showing genuine compassion to injured or sick people. Outside of work, Michaela enjoys traveling and the new experiences that are gained with each new adventure.


Nick Joyner, FNP-C

Nick was born and raised in Mount Airy, NC, but has resided in Statesville, NC for the last 12 years. He works primarily in the Taylorsville office. He has received an Associates of Science in Nursing from Surry Community College, a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University, and his Masters of Science-Family Nurse Practitioner from Winston-Salem State University. Nick has worked in healthcare since he was 18 years old (so nearly his entire life). His primary goal for patients is to ensure they receive evidence-based and quality healthcare, and not just accessible care. Away from medicine, he enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time with his dogs.


Nick Slager, FNP-C

Nick Slager, FNP-C

Nick grew up in eastern North Carolina and has lived in the Hickory area since 2012. After high school, he joined the North Carolina Army National Guard and has been a part of that organization for 25+ years. He is a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is currently a commissioned officer in the Army Nurse Corps and holds the rank of Major. Nick has an associate degree in Nursing, and two undergraduate degrees, including exercise science and nursing. He obtained his Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Western Carolina University in 2020. He comes to us with 12 years of nursing experience, a background in critical care and emergency medicine, and one year of family practice experience as an advanced practitioner. His passion for healthcare began as an Army medic during his enlisted time in the Army. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, working on his Mustang, or, when able, which isn’t often, vacationing!


Rick Young, PA-C

Rick Young, PA-C

Rick was born and raised in Panama City, Florida. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma Physician Associate program in 1986. Rick’s extensive career includes 21+ years of military service in the U.S. Air Force as a medic and PA and 22+ years of Emergency Medicine experience as a PA. Away from medicine, he enjoys motorcycle traveling and spending time with his family.


Sara Harmon, PA-C

Sara Harmon joined Urgent Care of Mountain View in 2021 and practices at our Hickory location. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Gardner-Webb University and a Master of Medical Science from North Greenville University’s Physician Assistant Medicine Program. She is certified by the NCCPA and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Sara has been a Physician Assistant for three years and has experience in Psychiatry, Geriatrics, and Urgent Care. She became involved in medical mission trips at a young age, and the desire to help others first prompted her to become a Physician Assistant.


Tatum Price, PA-C

Tatum Price, PA-C

Tatum received her bachelor’s degree in biology in 2017 and Master’s of Medical Science in 2019 from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC. She has worked in healthcare for 10+ years. As a PA, she has recently worked in primary care and transitioned to urgent care in 2022. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors.

Lawson Huggins, MD

Supervising Physician and Medical Director

Dr. Huggins is a Supervising Physician and Medical Director for Urgent Care of Mountain View. He is residency trained and board certified in emergency medicine and has over 25 years of experience in the emergency room setting. Dr. Huggins was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina, and is married to his wife Theresa and has three children.


Liane Schubring, RN, BSN, MBA/MHA

Chief Operating Officer

Urgent Care of Mountain View’s Chief Operating Officer is Liane Schubring. Schubring is a 31-year healthcare nursing professional. She comes to UCMV from Catawba Valley Medical Center where she served as the director of the Catawba Valley Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics. She has a long history of working with many community health care organizations such as home health care, home infusion and durable medical equipment, as well as hospice. She earned degrees from Vermont College of Norwich University and Pfeiffer University. She and her husband Mark live in Vale. She enjoys spending time with her children and watching Carolina Panthers Football.


Curtis Schultz, MD

Supervising Physician

Dr. Schultz serves as a Supervising Physician for Urgent Care of Mountain View and the Medical Director of BelleVi MedSpa. He received his doctorate from the University of Miami Medical School in 1983 and completed his residency at the United States Air Force Regional Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. While serving in the military, he was Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Armed Forces Medical School and Chief of Clinical Services at Charleston Air Force Base. Dr. Schultz has over 35 years of experience in healthcare. He served as an Air Force family physician for 16 years and worked with Catawba Valley Family Medicine for over 15 years. In addition to family medicine, he also has experience in comprehensive wound care, occupational medicine and urgent care. Interestingly, he had the unique opportunity to spend a year providing urgent care in New Zealand. Dr. Schultz is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Wilderness Medical Society and a past member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, a certified DOT examiner, and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Schultz enjoys playing tennis and golf, reading, traveling and watching all sports.
